Sprint Queen from the North Hima Das

What an ecstatic feeling when we see someone from obscure background makes it big! It was truly remarkable to see the way she broke her way to become the front runner of the race

For me, it’s the same kind of feeling when I saw how the Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik snatched key points in the her match in 2016 Olympics.

Well done girl!

Tech Gadget to Track Distraction

Sparks, eureka moment or bolt of lightening can ignite new business ideas, thoughts or  just something out of the blue. As for me, I get random ideas from things that are too insignificant and unrelated.

So, I’m sharing one of such moment in this blog post.

Today, while listening to mp3 collection, I chanced to hear Jim Rohn (  a motivational speaker) sharing tips on how to build confidence. One of the tips to build confidence is by doing small daily acts and get more focus on important task without getting distracted.

While listening, the word DISTRACTION got hold of me for a reason!

Is it the era of Disruption or Distraction?
Just like most people, I battle a big problem with distraction. Mostly, I get carried away with frivolous stuffs, like clicking a catchy headline, or get restless while sitting in one place. Often, I wonder, if there could be a device that could track every bit of activity during a period of time.

Well, such a tech device could easily calculate the time spend on productive tasks and time wasters!

This is when I got this tech idea!

Currently there are apps which will track your system time, track the websites visited, calculate the unproductive sites, time away from the system, yeda yeda. While working, we had a tool called Prohance! The shortcoming of this tool is that it’s just tracks the activities on the PC.

But there’s no system which tracks things around the room or in the case of office, the activities of an employee inside the premises! Well, the tool I have in mind may sound very intrusive, but if you take in a positive way, then it can be used to track every second and segment into different baskets based on how you program the tool.

So, what’s the big DEAL about this Tech Gadget which tracks Every move of yours!

First of all this is tech gadget has a 360 view eye! Not just a plain camera, but an intelligent, AI powered camera that can access from face and voice recognition to hand moments.

In my mind, this device will appear like a refined version of a surveillance cam. However, don’t be deceived by it’s ordinary looks. Once activated, it can it’s mounted on a ceiling or wall, it’s hard to escape it’s scan.

How is this device different?

It’s more powerful that your typical camera and it can be programmed to understand productive conversation, and even listen to trivial chats.

This device will constantly scan your PC, find out the pages visited, tabs opened, time spend on each page or the application used. Another option is to fix a sensor which allows this camera to study the sites visited and rest of tracking will be done by the screen.

Next level tracking

The device does more than just screen capture. It also reads the human faces around the vicinity. It’s like a Facebook face recognition tool, which tracks each persons face and based on the prior program, it will understand that the conversation is with a team member or it’s just a casual talk with a person in a different team. So, the system will track such talk as social and put it in a different basket.

If the loo is one the same floor, the tool will capture the times a person has gone to loo. Apart from that it can track the quantity of water a person has drunk from the bottle. Well, it can understand the objects in the vicinity and tags everything.

With a series of similar intelligent camera, it can track the employee moving from one room to another, there by creating a full length track of that person inside the office building.

So, with this took, you can take away the role of person peering at the surveillance camera. It can even alert if the person is doing something really out of the way.

Personal Distraction Capture Tech Gadget

There can be two version of this device. One for office use and another a house use. For example, a person who’s working from home will find it easy to track the activities. And, if you are a parent, then imagine how you can can keep an eye on your kids. Scary shit 🙂

Imagine now that you’re working in your room, you get calls, you pick some magazine, get a visitor, get to answer a door bell, or take a short nap or you just visit social media sites to know the updates… so, what if this tool will collate all the information and present a detailed breakup of your time. It can suggest that you are sitting in the chair for a too long time, and you need to step out and get fresh air.

What if this device is going to help you achieve better performance?

So, what kind of technology will go into such a device? One thing, it has to recognize human faces, objects and screen. I think the technology is there now.

A next level tool can capture data from the chair, also even collect data related to heart beat, Pressure, etc and suggest few changes.

Another spin-off from a tool would be this – it tracks the people interaction inside the office – Who are the people who does good networking, or time waster, who keeps chit-chatting? Probably, also who are the low-key profiles in the profile, who are the flirts, who are the busy bee, or just the seat warmer, etc, etc.

I browsed net if I could find similar device, but didn’t see if. One company call Humanyze. It uses a device embedded in a badge to track conversation, activities and movement ( if I’m right) to help the management with a holistic report.

One thing lacking in this system is the EYE! It doesn’t have an eye to track the person in real time.

Well, If I get a tool, I will know where my time is slipping, what are the time wasters and so on.

Now, the question is – Should be stuff be made in Silicon Valley, Bay Area, Mountain View, or it could be in some obscure place in India.

What if I pitch this idea with some Startup fund or share with Elon Musk or Sir Richard Brandson or the startup initiator from India.

Or, is this a project that could be taken up by any of the IT or Engineering colleges for their research and project?

Btw, the idea is to add intelligent quotient to our surveillance camera.

Reason to Act or Shrink Responsibility

What you got!

We are all weird – in one way or other, culturally, socially and mentality wise! Recently on a trip to Hyderabad, I saw a group of Marvari family members boarding the train. I made me think of the diverse kind of people living in this country – the way they dress, way they speak, the way they eat.

On the same side, people are different in the way they perceive things. Some are driven easily, come compete a task without being told 5 times, and some are just sluggish ( like I’m known).

So, it often makes me wonder how and when are we motivated to ACT! Well, it’s not me, the question of motivation is subject that’s long discussed, taught and learned in academics and in military, organizations, etc.
Recently, I started taking terrarium lessons at home. I have couple of classes attended by a handful of students. One thing I don’t like is when people remove the footwear before entering the house. Well, I know it’s hygienically good, but I feel odd – feel as if I’m not respecting people who visit my house. Also, removing footwear is when you enter a temple or now in some churches.

Now, with marble floors in most houses, we Indians are used the behavior of removing slippers before entering a house. So, at first I used to say – it’s okay, you can wear your footwear inside. This command hardly got any response. People, refused to remove.

Then, I started saying that there’s a dog which picks slippers if you leave it outside. Now, I got a better response from people. So, what makes them follow my command? Is that my command has more meaning in this?
So, today’s post is about the reasons around us?
1. Why we revisit a coffee shop, when there are similar shops near to the house
2. Why we save a website or blog in our fav folder to revisit
3. Why some follow traffic, while some break rules without any impunity
4. Reason to smile at strangers
5 Reasons to avoid looking at strangers
6 Reason to avoid health checkup
7. Reason to take additional work at work
8. Reason to avoid the responsibility of addressing a meeting

Opportunity and Generosity in Every Junction

No Shelter for These Fish Sellers in Kumarapuram

Why are some people easily moved to contribute, show gratitude, spread love, spend money without expecting return? Probably, it’s in their chromosomes! Or can this qualities be cultivated?

Hyderabad Trip
I happen to visit Hyderabad after a gap of 2 years. As expected, I was baffled by the chaos, disparity of people, poverty, riches, legacy, ruins…. It looked like a city which is always on the run -shops of all sorts, people at tea stalls, mega buildings, congested fly-over and people riding scooters all around the road. On top of all this chaos is the dust which get’s kicked up with every strong wind. The point here is not about the rush of people or dust or poverty or about rich, but I felt any society would be better with a joint effort from people.

United Acts!

We know many NGO’s are doing selfless work, however there aren’t any neighborhood task force group which can collect people and do some socially useful work. What if someone takes it up by building a solid capital, then getting people in each locality to a common cause.

What’s the Reward!

Money or Recognition or Gratitude. Probably, they should have an app will be the platform to drive such a mission.

Btw, I’m just sharing this out of curiosity.

PICTURE IT

The PICTURE, I’ve shared on this post is from Kumarapuram Junction at Trivandrum. Be it rain or hot summer day, these people ( men and women) come to this road side place to sell fish.

It’s a sorry sight to see these people from morning, selling fish in an exposed place. No shelter, no cover. Few lucky ones has a umbrella ( often a broken one).

Opportunity and Generosity

What if someone in this locality or a biz man or a umbrella manufacturer or a real estate builder gifts them beach umbrella. Anything that can sufficiently cover their heads would be a big relief for them.
Moreover, the person or brand will definitely gain good marketing mileage in this way – print the brand name or logo or some catch phrase on the umbrella cloth. For the sponsorer, it’s also about getting some brownie points and eye balls.

Who all can take it up?

1. Any profit making company in Trivandrum Technopark
2. People in this locality ( good Samaritan in Kumarapuram)
3. Shop owners in this place
4. KIMS Hospital or GG Hospital or Dental Clinics near by
5. Poppy Umberella or Chellam Umbrella Mart
6. Builder ( Artech or Sobha or SFS or any brand)
7. Any philanthropist
8. Clubs – Rotary Club, Lions Club, Round Table, etc
9  Booze brands – KF, Bacardi, Old Monk
10. Schools – Kindergarden schools in this locality
11. Margin Free Shops ( Trivandrum, it’s all margin free)
12. Govt ( Well, they can contribute)
13 Political party ( BJP, CPM, Congress) or Republican or Democrat
14. Condom – Would be nice to see a protection ad

What’s the Hurry!

Hurried Life

Here’s something that came as a revelation to me while I was washing the vessels from the sink.

I have an habit of hurrying – from descaling fish, to cleaning vessels to folding clothes, to moping floor. It’s not that I’m extremely fast – just that I skip the finer part of doing the job. The clothes on the line, might not be kept in the proper way! Well, it’s a shoddy work to say the least.

So, today while cleaning today’s mess in the kitchen, it struck me as to why I do that halfhearted attempt to set things in place. So, what does it mean? Simply put, it’s time I need to slow down, take my sweet time to scrub, clean, read, write or just listen to a song without skipping it half way. Or, to leave it in a better state that what I have found it.

So, what’s the promise!

Clean all parts, scrub to scrub, write with a punch, brush all corners, lift carefully, call with all heart, answer well, prior prepare, cook slowly, present things a better way!

Let’s see how it goes!

Will update the progress

How was your day? Like the day before – like the ride on a Ferris wheel, same views, same feeling, occasionally some thrill feeling. What if we drift away from the usual ride, find our own ride, path and pattern.

But, how?

Discuss Talk Good Ideas for a Progressive India

This is the first video I have shared from a Whatsapp group. Out of the scores of forward on many groups, only a handful are worthy of second look or a share.

I don’t know the name of the speaker or the forum where he’s addressing. Not withstanding that, there are many a points you can take from this speaker. One last bit he said was to talk, spread the real meaning of India which has evolved from many cultures, behaviors and tradition. It’s a exclusive society, but not a society build on narrow view of one person or a party.
