After a long, long interval there’s mussels for lunch. The lady who comes to help us got it from Valyathura. Fishing folks in that locality has harvested juvenile ones. I recoken it has more months of growth left.
Mussels – Kerala’s Favorite Shell Fish
This is a delicacy in coastal towns and Trivandrum is no exception. To prepare this, first it has to be boiled. During boiling, the closed cap of each mussles opens-up. During this stage, a strong distinct smell spread in the kitchen space.
As a sea food lover, it was a family whiff which is part of its preparation – could be the noxious smell for a hard-bred vegetarian.
