Why Kerala needs educators, mentors and leaders?
Today when I landed in Bangalore, I was one among the hundreds who came along with me in Kochu Veli Express to Bangalore. The sight of people getting down with packed bags, carboard boxes with fruits, coconut, mangoes, etc made me thing of this post and topic.
Why did we pack our bags to this city?
Why are we just visitors to our respective homes in Kerala?
Why did we say goodbye to our beautiful houses, green outdoors to come this over crowded city?
Change is not easy but we have now adopted this city as a new place to learn, earn and live. Bangalore, is just one destination. We Keralites are in every part of this universe where there are opportunities, where life is better than our so called “Gods Own Country”.
- What went wrong with Kerala?
- Is this something got to do with literacy?
- Why is literacy making us more regressive?
- Are we just learning to learn? Why are we not enterprising?
- Why can’t we think beyond PSC test to earn a life, to learn a better life?
- Why are we still having the fetish for gold? To an extend, it causing lot of societal pressures?
Is Kerala turning to be shell of its former self – a place littered with empty mansions and old people?
Why are the young looking for places and opportunities outside Kerala?
Who can lead Kerala to explore and utilize its potential? Can you lead to the birth of a NEW KERALA?One common thread which people or educated people believe is in having a Govt Job or go out of the state and earn something more great.
These days, bank jobs is becoming like a PSC job. These days when I go to banks, I see many technically qualified people sitting in cashier’s box, counting money, entering into the automated system. Did they learn all the skills to do this job – clerk which can be dispensed soon.
Why did you take up a bank job? MONEY! PROMISE OF SECURE JOB!
During my time, mostly commerce graduates wrote BSRB tests conducted by baking recruitment board. In two decades, all things at the ground level have changed.
If you are looking money or pay check then I can understand, but security of job, then you need to think ahead. I don’t think that bank clerical jobs are going to last long. If you need proof, look at the way technology is changing the way banks work – mobile apps, instant money transfer, PayTm, Scan and pay, cash deposit machines, etc. Why do banks need people to run?
Why Should Kerala or How should Kerala Become? My Perspective!
It’s time to break free from the old concepts and story that’s wired in most of us. One of common concepts people have about career and job is about having a government job and a negative perception towards private enterprise. Though I see that the current generation ( Millennium gen) is pushing the old school and thought, there’s still more work to be done. I see more budding business people when I visit fairs in Trivandrum, such as Locally Made, Olam, Summer of 29 by Eat to Eat, Where in Trivandrum.
New Vibe in Trivandrum
The present day kids are now more creative – there was a stall selling Kunafa ‘Kunafa Girl, then there was couple of green initatives, a girl selling probiotic drink, etc.
We need leaders who can convince us us of our potential – to do more with our abundant resources, beautiful country side, peaceful life, etc.
We need to tell people to seek some thing new – start something new, learn more, practice an art, lead ideas, foster a climate for start-up to nurture and grow, etc.
Where are such leaders? Someone who can lead people to a higher goal!
Mentor-ship to start business initiatives in Kerala ( Does education really has a role to play in enterprenuership?)
