Kunnukuzhy Memories

Kunnukuzhy Diaries – Part 1

After a brief gap, I revisited our old house. There was few repairs to be done before we hand it over to the tenant. While doing a bit of cleaning of the place, I looked around for traces of memories and moments spent in this old tiled house.

I know there are many families who have come before us and stayed in these walls and many who had come after us. Well, each one have their own parceled memories, and for some it would have been just another house before they moved to a bigger place.

As for me, it was my place where I spent my youth, with all its foibles, highs and lows. What should do I remember in this place? It’s hard to pin point all in one post as the thoughts surface at different points.

One of the moment is when I started listening to BoneyM music on a cassette. Dad had got a 3 in 1 set, which looked more like a suitcase when packed. There was radio, record player and a cassette player. What else do you need during early 80’s?

I used to play the music loud so I wanted the entire neighborhood to know that I listen to English songs. Most of it was Brown Girl in the Ring, Hurray Hurray it’s a Holly holiday ,The Painter Man and many other from this record.

I guess, I have to pen the remaining thoughts in the next post, where I will share more pictures from this place and the street.

Another objective of choosing Kunnukuzhy as a Keyword and as a HI Tag is for plain publicity- get the keyword into SERP page. Will it happen as easy as I think, only time will tell. Then then I will see how Google spiders see my post and respond to it.

How to Fix Fishing Line – Anglers Video

Should I call this as an epiphany find or just a lucky find? The fact is that I was looking for a video tutorial where someone will explain how to fix the fishing reel to the rod. Bingo! I got it from this YouTube channel. Also, it’s the first time I’m seeing this Vlogger’s videos on YouTube.

My guess is that I’m just seeing the tip of the iceberb – there are many bloggers and YouTubers from Kerala. As I open one channel, YouTube algorithm is throwing suggestions for new videos made by other YouTubers.

Fail! Fail Often!

Yesterday I was watching the commencement speech made by Charlie Day at this Alma Mater. Of the many things he said, few points stood out for me. Like many celebrities who have achieved success, fame in their life, he too was narrating his life story. The story of many failures, stumbling blocks, choices, and how how he took hims real calling – the voice in his head. Also, how his calling proved to be the best choice in his life.

One epiphany moment after listening to this speech is this question – are our colleges providing a commencement speech on their last day in college? Probably, the big league colleges like IIT’s or Symbiosis or Christ University, etc are bringing speakers to share generic advice to final year stuents.

My guess is that, most second-tier colleges like the ones in Trivandrum and rest of Kerala won’t be bothering with such an effort. Is it true? I need to find out? If they don’t have a speech ceremony, then don’t you think it’s an opportunity lost?

I’m sure if there’s a desire or steadfast intent, then the management or the students union can get hold of some alumni-student to share their success story.

If anyone who’s reading this post is associated with any college as a parent, student, teacher, management or college unions, then you can take it forward to make the last day a memorable one. Also, you can record the talk and if you think it’s useful for others and for the institution, then it could be share on YouTube. What do you say?

Let’s give people to share their story!

Where Do You Want to Visit?

When Will I Be Here?

This picture appeared on the screen – just like many of the scenic pictures which appears on Windows. However, this picture got stuck on my mind as a distant reality of trip which I will plan soon.

Having to think of such audacious travel goals are good but what does it take to really make it a reality? How will I grow from where I’m to what I wish to achieve and build?

There are many unanswered and uncomfortable questions in front of me. I hope to build it, one step at a time.

ICH Church Street

There was a time when I used to visit coffee house at MG Road during most of my visits to Bangalore. If I remember,, coffee used to be around Rs 7, pricey compared to other normal restaurants in B’lore.

During such visits, I usually prefer to sit on the first floor of the building. The old long desks, the guys who used to hang-out, were all part of the coffee drinking culture. Sadly, all those are left only as memories in some picture folder. Now, it’s a different building with a new set of memories for people who are just beginning to explore this place.

What is Hygee?

Thanks to Suja, I got to know about this book and the philosophy behind it. I haven’t yet read the book, but I know the central part of this concept is somewhere related to mind fullness and living with ease.

What did I adopt from it?
One thing I want to try is to reduce the speed with which I set out to do things. It just means, I need to do things at a slow pace, enjoying every moment.

Another thing which they have mentioned about Hygge is about using candles. This means, I should revive my candle making project and start making candles to bring more Hygge in my life. The deadline for the project is 1 week and I need to light own candle in a week’s time.

Will share the light!

Top 29 Vlogglers from Kerala

I should confess that I was literally living in a cave, not aware of the uber net savvy generation around me. My awareness to all this began when I started binge watching videos on YouTube. While browsing videos I clicked on few uploads which open a new stream of uploads by Vloggers from Kerala.

How come I didn’t know about this?
Why didn’t anyone tell me about it?
Well, I don’t have much friends or connections with people who follow these kind of videos posted by millennial gen.

I had a preconceived thought that videos uploaded were only by channels like Veena’s Curry World. That makes me leave a whole bunch of diverse videos from angling to unboxing on YouTube.

One of the first YouTube video surprises was from a young chap who has a channel called ” Fishing Freaks”. His niche topic is related to fishing videos. As I was always interested in fishing topics, his channel was the first one that got me hooked to YouTube.

After seeing couple of other Vlogs on YouTube, YouTube algorithm is promoting me to see related videos which are all new to me. All these got me excited and I decided to collect the links on post so that I can easily return and revisit their latest YouTube video.

Moonshine – Scorpio’s Drink

After seeing couple of Vlogs by Mallu Traveler and his stay in isolation ward at Kannur, I bounced on this video on how to make vattu from Pineapple. At first I thought he was mad to share such a video, but then I came to know that he is not in Kerala or India to comply with our rules. Ha ha

Why we still have our Archaic Akbari Rules?

Last December and one before that, there was a news about the raid in houses by Exisce department. They seized homemade wine made by few people, who wanted to make for their home use and few others who wanted to make and sell wine during Christmas time. The news of the seizure was a dampener for many people who were planning to make a bottle or so for this season.

The sad thing is the way, Excises department portray such wine making households as thought it was a big illegal business. They use the Abkari Act to bring such a person along the same lines of illicit brewing people.

What a stupid way of interpreting laws? As usual, I have think we are still have the third-world attitude and there’s no way but to accept the law of the land.

In this context, I was happy to see how one of our mallu brother has showed how to make homemade brew at his home in Europe.

Which is your drink as per your Zodiac Sign?

Recently I saw a Whatsapp forward which listed the type of drink for each sun sign. In that, moonshine is for Scorpio. And, today when I saw this brew making video by a mallu I got the motivation to share it on my blog.

I guess most of us have a tendency to break the rule, especially when we think the rule is bit skewed. Probably, that’s one reason why I was elated to share it.

Corona Virus Triggered Ideas

In times of epidemic, like the one sweeping across the world, there are many things our mind wishes for. For instance, I saw a forward which predicted that such a virus will spread in the world in 2020, affect lungs and after sometime, it will disappear without any apparent reason. Btw, I still believe some miracle or some natural phenomena will make the virus loose its potency.

Have you too wished for a positive news – maybe a new drug which will insulate Corona virus or the incoming summer will stall the progress of the virus?

Instant Corona Virus Detection
Another thing I had fancied is a medical gadget which can instantly predict if the person has viral infection or not. This gadget I had envisioned looks like a hand held device which could be pointed to a person or a space. This device has a 5 inch screen which will show a infra-red type image on the screen. The neon color area on the screen would mean the presence of Corona Virus on person or a surface.

I had seen something close to it on Medical Files or Detective on Discovery Channel. This device is used in crime detection, where the detectives can spot unseen traces of blood. So, if such a device do exist so what about using some rays to spot out minutest of such virus on a surface.

Probably Medical Gadget for Future

In some years, we will have all sorts of devices which can easily detect all kinds of diseases with a quick scan. May be, each home will have a device which will be connected to the hospital and help to evaluate the state of health or any traces of tumor or virus in the system.
