Coconut Climber in Trivandrum

How many coconut climbers (thandan) do you know in your locality?
Do you have a regular fellow to pluck coconuts?
What is the going market rate for these workers?

There’s a big scarcity of coconut climbers in Trivandrum. I may not be wrong, it applies to other parts of Kerala. I keep hearing from my friends about the high rate for these people.

Why is supply very less while demand in high. While it’s not an easy profession, there’s a big opportunity for people to come to this arena. Of course, there are now tools available to help people climb trees safer and more easier.

Why not sponsor a training for local people in your locality?

Get publicity in Kerala circles through online free ads ( Yenta.com or Quikr, etc) and/or start a Facebook page. Post picture of you with the bullet. I’m sure it will be bit innovative, and if you’r a working girl, then you can earn extra money during weekends.

How to Find Your Purpose and Do What You Love

Cherio to Women Bikers!

Malls and Factory Stores!

 Sugamano Kannan ellalo
Hegiddeera ?

Translated to English, it means – How are you? Long time?

I overheard a casual talk in  fish stall at Domlur. The shop guy asked casually asked the customer his whereabouts and where he has been for a long time.

This simple  act of remembering a customer keeps that customer relationship alive. Unfortunately, this kind of connection is absent in a shopping mall or a big store. When you walk in a big mall, the people around are just as anonymous as you’re. Al the big names like Nilgiris or Foodworld, or Reliance store are just robotic stores with no human feelings. It’s just pick, trolley and pay. What a sad way to spend money without any feeling?

This got me thinking of this:

  • Can big shops build personal connection with customers?
  • Can super markets find a way to acknowledge a regular customer? CRM!
  • What’s the real role of a counter staff? Only billing, without even looking in our face?
  • How can the shop assistants trained to smile, talk, and shell out human behavior?

When, you start a franchisee, or start your own biz, always remember to know regulars who walk in and the best customers. It really pays!

Also, why should all shopping malls look alike? Does it have to be that way? Who will change it and why?

Why I love Perverts like You

Are you my friend?

On a offbeat note, I often wonder what’s inside you. I never know, neither you know about me. We have a bunch of pervert ideas bottled inside us. After all we’re just humans with all the follies.

Are you what we appear outside? Polished, well mannered, smart and intelligent?
Is there something more sinister behind your glazing coat? If yes, don’t worry. You’re not alone.

Start Mushroom Farming Business In Kerala

Swadishta Mushrooms by Janaki Sreekumar ( Pic Source: yentha.com)

Interested in mushroom farming? Here’s a feature in Yentha.com. Janaki Sreekumar, from Trivandrum took the less beaten path to start mushroom farming from her house. Her venture, Swadishta Mushrooms now employs few people in her locality. Way to lead, Ms Janaki.

Role Model to Women Entrepreneurs
How can you try similar adventure? We see more examples of women ditching their 9 to 5 job by setting cafe’s, boutiques, home bake, etc.

But, change is not easy!
Despite the high literacy rate in Kerala, our society and people has conditioned to – Take a Day Job. But, now people are breaking from this mound. Thanks to Internet, social networking sites, all these young people are able to find a way to connect.

Problem right now with us is our steeped socialistic ideologies. For most of Keralities, they equate business people as TATA’s and Birla’s. Probably, our cemented Socialistic or Communist ideologies.

Apart from the great work Ms Janaki is doing, she can adopt these in her business

  • Start a website, business page on Facebook ( To start get help from an expert)
  • Publish a book with a step-by-step process on mushroom cultivation & sell it
    ( Probably around Rs 150.)
  • Convert the book into a PDF and sell the ebook overseas ( sell it for $ 4 or $5)
  • Sell all items required to setup a mushroom farming from the scratch
  • Learn to make tasty mushroom recipes and teach neighbors, groups and side-by-side promote mushrooms. I feel, most Keralites are not familiar with mushroom based recipes
  • Start a blog on mushroom farming and share her tips to other. It could be forum for her to sell her merchandise, book, etc
  • Show others how to take license to set-up similar venture
  • Conduct classes at gram-panchayat level

I believe knowledge transfer (KT) of any disciple has immense potential. Be it any craft, language, or any skill, you can train others for a charge.

New Pub in Town – Vapour at Indira Nagar

100ft road, Bangalore has a swanky multi-storey brewery/lounge bar cum pub/terraced restaurant. Yes, all in one building. I just wonder the people, the tons of dough spent to built this venture. It should rightly be someone’s dream.

First Hand Vapour Experience
I’ve tried most pubs, and similar joints in 100 ft road, Indira Nagar. So for a change I tried this edifice. When we entered, we were greeted by a guy behind the counter. With a glad face he explained all the points of entry in this building.

We took the terrace and settled for a soup and beer. Starters and food prices seems affordable, but bottled beer was pricey. Soup was right to our taste, and it matched for the chill climate. The new staff, every one seems to be helpful, and but you could spot some clueless guys.

Location of Vapour Pub at Indira Nagar
If you’re coming from Intermediate ring road, via Domlur flyover, then drive towards Indira Nagar 100 Feet Road. When coming up to your left side you’ll see Axis bank and a bus stand. Vapour stands just there. And if you’re from the CMH road side, it’s quite opposite to East Cultural Association.

For more details you can call Vapour desk at 9164600610, 080 67947389 ext:150

Improvement and suggestion to Vapour:

    1. Can you do some gimmick using  Vapour. Something which is kind of a big steam stuff….
    2. Night time, it’s not visible. Why not put additional lighting on Friday’s and Saturday’s

Steam Running out for MBA Colleges

MBA – Only the best will survive

On, October, 10, 2013, Time of India carried this news on their front page. Similar news and opinion has been circulating for a long while, and this comes as no surprise. Again, this shows the signs of the times, i.e, MBA, Engineering and Nursing colleges are being hit by low admission rates. This means, only the good colleges will attract students and rest has to close down.

So, if you’re a MBA aspirant, then do proper check on the standing of the college, the qualification of faculty, and ask for feedback from students who have passed out..

On Perseverance – Quote by Goethe

We must not hope to be mowers,
And to gather the ripe gold ears,
Unless we have first been sowers
And watered the furrows with tears.
It is not just as we take it,
This mystical world of ours,
Life’s field will yield as we make it
A harvest of thorns or of flowers.

Goethe, on ‘Perseverance’ – Don’t we want a doze of it, everyday.
