From the emails and calls I get from strangers, one aspect is clear – there’re scores of people who are eager to get into business, but most of them are clueless. Probably, there’s a need for mentoring.
- Who can start small business mentoring?
- Can you guide them, give them suggestions, and practical advises
- Why are we short of business coaches?
- Why are govt department which issues licenses guarding the procedures?
Why do people leave their day job and venture into business? Here are few points I gathered from many conversation…
- Tension and pressure at work
- Lack of job satisfaction
- People who are staying away from the family
- Lack of growth opportunities
- Looking for bigger monetary gains
- People eager to escape glass buildings ( corporate life/modern factories}
What are the common questions most people have in mind?
- Which business should I start?
- How to start a business?
- Which business is better?
- Will this business succeed?
- How much capital should I invest?
- How to get publicity for my business?
- What are the procedure and rules?
- Can I start with _ amount of savings?
- How much will I earn in future?
- Give me more ideas to start a business
Before you think of starting a small business…

- Have a heart to be innovative – keep doing new stuffs
- Never give up easily
- As a business owner you have to wear many hats
- If plan A is not working, think of an alternative plan ( B or C)
- Are you willing to create a ruckus ( Read Seth’s Blog)
- Find a differentiation in the market place
- Have nerves of steel when faced with adversities
- Develop the knack of dealing with sarkari babus and rules
- Look for ways to create easy publicity ( Digital marketing)
- Have a honest approach, and sincere about the objective of business
- Should have a heart to help the society and people around you
How can I help you?
- Give out random ideas, based on what you like doing ( share your interest, passion)
- Teach you how to go online and get publicity using low cost digital channels
- Talk and write to you about my thoughts about your biz idea ( Don’t just depend on my input)
And finally, there’re no guarantees that business will click.…well, that’s the nature of the beast…
To sum it, here are few lines from the movie “Nothing Hill”
BELLA
The more I think about
things, the more I see no rhyme or reason
in life — no one knows why some things
work out, and some things don’t — why
some of us get lucky — and some of us…
Have a great adventure!
Cheers to you!
